The BBQ turkey was an unqualified success. I followed the Food in a Minute recipe almost to the letter. At one point I did have to provide the turkey with a little aluminium foil helmet as there was excessive blackening. Apparently it was beautiful and succulent and juicy. I say apparently because I missed out. There is plenty of ham left though. The irony is not lost on me.

For once auckland turned on an absolute scorcher for Xmas day. In fact if anything it was a little too warm and we were struggling to fit on the shady patches of the deck.
Since the turkey was butterflied stuffing was a technical impossibility. FIAM to the rescue again - enter the stuffing log. Make your stuffing, roll in tinfoil like a giant cracker and put on the top rack of the BBQ for about 45 minutes. The relies were very impressed

I followed my golden rule which is if anyone asks if they can bring something then quickly think of something. We put the rest of the family on salads, I think we had a fairly reasonable array. Note that there is still plenty of ham despite my trying to send everyone home with some.

So what now? Well I'm the only one awake. Even the kittens have collapsed. I'm thinking the blonde and I might head to piha with a bottle of bubbles and watch the sunset bit we'll see if I can wake him out of the ham induced stupor

Merry Xmas to all, hope you are having a great day and best wishes to you and your family
